Flexibility

Natures’ Way Farm strives to be the most flexible CSA on the market today.  We have found that no two families are alike.  Some prefer to have total control of the produce selection.  Others like the convenience of delivery.  We aim to please.

Many CSA’s are exclusively on-farm pick-up.  Since we are close to LaCrosse and surrounding communities this works well for many members.  It allows for various share sizes – from singles to small restaurants – by household size – each household buys a share for each member of the household.  In other words, single households buy one share, a family of four buys four shares.  A four-share member would get four times the amount of a single household.

In 2000 we added delivery to farmers market sites.  Each week instead of coming to the farm to select your produce, we pack and deliver a standard 1/2 bushel box to local drop sites.  All boxes contain the same type and quantity of produce.  Each member is responsible for picking up their box at their designated drop site during the designated pick-up time.

For 2008 season we are trying to be even more flexible with additional options such as additional values of Gift Cards.  I tried a debt card 10 years ago.  Now that debt cards and gift cards have become so popular I made this offer last year, with some success, so they are an option again.  In addition to the $100 Gift Card, I added the $200 and $300 Gift Cards for more flexibility.

The benefits of on-farm pick-up include:

  • Multiple share sizes

  • Maximum flexibility in share programs

  • Complete control over produce selection (frequently there are selections that need to be made – e.g. each share receives one bunch broccoli OR two kohlrabi, etc.)

  • Access to fresh cut herbs

  • Additional farm-related add-on items (e.g. eggs, apples)

  • Availability of weekly cut flower share

  • Fresh, free range chickens, umm!  (advance orders)

  • Grass feed beef and pork.    (advance orders only)

Benefits of delivery to drop sites:

  • Convenient, fast pick-up of share bag/box

  • Shorter drive for urban customers

With either approach, members receive the following benefits:

  • Fresh, locally-grown, chemical-free produce

  • Access to our farms and direct purchases

  • Member pricing for bulk purchases

  • Invitations to member events
