At Natures’ Way Farms we strive to provide a flexible approach to CSA.  As such, we provide two different CSA programs; an On-farm pick-up program provides you the ability to choose your produce,  and drop-site pick-up you have a convenient place to receive your produce.

With either program you get the same fresh and delicious, locally-grown nutritionally packed healthy food.

Drop-site Pick-up
Our drop-site program utilizes a standard 1/2 bushel box.  We’ve found it holds approximately the equivalent of two on-farm pick-up shares, or enough for two to three people depending on your particular eating habits.  To understand how much food this is please refer to the on-farm pick-up section below.

On-farm Pick-up
With on-farm pick-up we sell the produce by individual shares.  A single person buys one share.  A couple would purchase two shares.  A family of four gets four shares.  Each week you will have a variety of produce to choose from.  Generally there will be several different items.  From these items each half-share or full-share will take home between 6 to 12 items.  Some items will be matched with others – e.g. 1 head of broccoli or 2 kohlrabi – so for each share you will have to choose which one to take.

The following are a couple examples from averages a few years ago.  Last year the share sizes were double in size, however, only the year before they were a little smaller.
The new section I have added to the website " WHAT'S In The Bag ? "  indicates what you can expect for the upcoming week or weeks in your shares.  To help you plan your meals.

Here are a couple examples to illustrate how this works:

Example 1: Spring (still early, fewer choices)

This week’s choices are:
1 head Lettuce
1 head Broccoli or 2 Kohlrabi
1 bunch Green Onions
2 baby Bok Choi
0.5 lbs Sugar Snap Peas
1 bunch Radishes or 6 Baby Beets

  • With one share you could choose: 1 head lettuce, 1 head broccoli, 1 bunch green onions, 2 baby bok choi, 0.5 lbs peas and 6 baby beets.

  • With two shares you could choose: 2 heads lettuce, 1 head broccoli, 2 kohlrabi, 2 bunch green onions, 4 baby bok choi, 1 lbs peas, 1 bunch radishes and 6 baby beets.

  •

  • A drop-site box would receive: 2-3 heads of lettuce (depending on size), 2 heads of broccoli, 2 kohlrabi, 3 bunches green onions, 6 baby bok choi, 1.5 lbs sugar snap peas, 1 bunch radishes and 12 baby beets – as long as all this fits into a 1/2 bushel box.

Example 2: Summer (the peak of the season!)

This week’s choices are:
0.5 lbs Green Beans
0.5 lbs Carrots
3 ears Sweet Corn
1 Cucumber or 3 Summer Squash
1 large Eggplant or 1 Bell Pepper
1 large Onion
1 Melon or 1 Watermelon
1 lb Tomatoes or 0.5 lbs Cherry Tomatoes

  • With one share you could choose: 0.5 lbs Green Beans, 0.5 lbs Carrots, 3 ears Sweet Corn, 1 Cucumber, 1 Bell Pepper, 1 large Onion, 1 Watermelon and 1 lb Tomatoes

  • With four shares you could choose: 2 lbs Green Beans, 2 lbs Carrots, 12 ears Sweet Corn, 2 Cucumbers, 6 Summer Squash, 1 large Eggplant, 3 Bell Peppers, 4 large Onions, 3 Melons, 1 Watermelon, 3 lbs Tomatoes, and 0.5 lbs Cherry Tomatoes

  •

  • A drop-site box would receive: 1.5 lbs green beans, 1.5 lbs carrots, 9 ears corn, 1 cucumber, 6 summer squash, 1 large eggplant, 2 bell peppers, 3 large onions, 2 melons, 1 watermelon, 2 lbs tomatoes and 0.5 lbs cherry tomatoes – as long as all this fits into a ˝ bushel box. If it doesn't fit you will get the overflow in a bag.

To understand how much of each item you will typically receive when in season please refer to the following table of vegetables:  These are averaged examples.  Quantities vary throughout the season and year to year.
